My most precious possession
My most precious possession is my sewing machine. I got it for Christmas from Santa. It is purple and gold in colour. It works with peddles. It is an electrical machine. It is a child-safe equipment.
Though it is a toy, the stitches come out nicely. I stitch dresses for my dolls. The stitches I have in my machine are back-stitch tacking and running stitch. Sometimes I sew handkerchiefs. I love to sew because it’s fun.
If somebody asks for my machine I will never give it to anyone. I look after it well. After I use it, I clean it every day. When I’m not using the machine, I cover it with a black cloth. I always wanted to own a sewing machine. At last I am happy that I now own a machine. The things I learn for needlework in school, I practice in my machine too. I am so proud of my precious machine.

An unexpected meeting
There was a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and was surprised to see Trevor. My greetings were so loud that everyone stared at me. Only then I realized that I was still in the library. Hastily we went out into the corridor to talk.
Trevor is my former neighbour. We used to be very close friends. We were in the same class in school and attended the same church together. But since we shifted to the new HDB Flats, we had drifted apart. Both of us were busy trying to adapt to our new environment. We stopped writing to each other and lost contact.
I never dreamt that I would meet him in the library. We were eager to learn about the well being of each other’s family. We loaded each other with questions. Sweet reminiscences of the past also came to our minds. We reminded each other of the games we had played – run and catches, hide and seek – and we laughed as we recalled how we both got scolded at the same time when we were naughty. What delightful recollections!
After conversing for almost an hour, Trevor had to go because he had to meet a friend. However, before we parted both of us reached an agreement that we would make an extra effort to renew and maintain our friendship.
