My favourite cartoon
Tintin is my favourite cartoon. ‘The Adventures of Tintin’ was one of the most popular cartoons of the 20th century. It was created by Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi, who wrote under the pen-name of Herge. Tintin had been published in more than 70 languages with sales of more than 200 million copies and has been adapted for radio, television, theatre and film.
It is a funny, humorous and adventurous cartoon. The main characters are Professor Calculus, Captain Haddock, Tintin, Thomson and Thompson and Snowy (dog). But my favourite character is Tintin. He is a reporter and adventurer who travels around the world with his dog Snowy.
There are lots of morals to learn from the character Tintin. He is always in the mood to gather news and knowledge. He is courageous, adventurous, calm, caring, kind, honest, loyal, independent, intelligent, patient, friendly and good-natured. All these good qualities I found in his character.
I think Tintin’s character made this cartoon popular. I’ll never give up watching Tintin, even when I grow up.

The place I would like to live
There are many beautiful places all around the world. We all enjoy Mother Nature. It is a gift to us. I would like to visit and travel all around the world. But the place which is most appealing to me personally is Sri Lanka. If golden sandy beaches, rising waves, misty mountains, mighty elephants, stealthy leopards, giant whales, a majestic past, lovely tea and warm smiles could sum up a country, that would be Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is a wonderful island. It is located in the Indian Ocean. It is also known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. There are many places of tourist attractions such as Sigiriya, Peradeniya, Haggala, Sinharaja Forest and many more. Sigiriya is a rock fortress built by King Kashyapa. It is located in Dambulla. If we go to Sigiriya, we can see a lot of frescoes and paintings. Sigiriya is considered as a world heritage site. Hikkaduwa is a place of corals. Sri Lanka was invaded by the British due to its beauty and treasure, but gained independence on February 4, 1948. It has been 71 years since Sri Lanka gained independence. The famous freedom fighters of Sri Lanka were Sri Anagarika Dharmapala, Ven Wariyapola Thero and D. S. Senananayake among others.
Sri Lanka is a very nice country. Many people and tourist visit Sri Lanka to enjoy the beauty of our country. I hope I can do a good service for Sri Lanka.

A short story using five words; apple, train, elephant, paper, banjo
One day in our country the king had a contest to go to the forest and take a jewel box from inside a dangerous cave where dragons lived. Many people went there and came back without the jewel box. I believed in myself and went in a train. When I reached there it was evening. It began to get dark. I was hungry and went searching for food. I found an apple tree and ate an apple.
The next day I woke up and some branches of the tree were broken and I heard a strange sound. I went there and saw an elephant. I got afraid and started to run but the elephant chased me. I found a paper and made it burn. When the elephant saw the fire it ran away.
Finally I approached the cave and an old man who was sitting under a tree nearby called to me. I went near him and he asked me where I was going. I told him about the contest. The old man gave me a banjo and said to play it and the dragons would let me take the jewel box. I thanked him and went inside. When I reached there, the dragons came running towards me so I started to play the banjo. The dragons danced to the music and rejoiced. I quickly took the jewel box and came to the king’s palace. I showed the king the jewel box. He gave me a lot of gifts for my bravery and I lived happily.
