A brave deed
There was a big fire in my neighbourhood shops. The fire was reported and the fire engines reached the spot. It took them eight hours to put out the raging blaze. The staff of these shops, were caught unexpectedly. Two of them fainted due to the shock. The fireman made them sit for two whole hours under his care. He seemed to be everywhere, looking after people in pain. He gave first-aid to some of the victims of the fire.
The fireman came to know that an old man was trapped in a warehouse. Without caring for his own safety, he immediately climbed the roof of a burnt shop with the help of a rope ladder and brought the old man out with the assistance of two other workers in the shop.
He was praised by everyone for his brave deed. The fireman did a marvelous job there.

An interesting place I visited recently
I have seen a lot of beautiful places in my life, but there is one place that I’ll never forget. The place I visited was amazing and I’ve never seen a place like that.
The name of the place is Sigiriya. It is one of the most valuable historical monuments in Sri Lanka. It is said to be the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress located in the Matale district near Dambulla town in the Central Province. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres high.
According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle, the Mahavamsa, the site was selected by King Kashyapa and his new capital city was founded. He built his palace on top of this rock and decorated its sides with colourful frescoes.
On a small plateau about halfway up the side of the rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion. The name of the palace derives from this structure – Sinhagiri, the Lion Rock.
Sigiriya today is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is one of the best preserved exhibits of ancient urban planning. Sigiriya consists of many features such as flower gardens, lakes, caves etc. According to legends and references there were over 500 paintings in Sigiriya but today only 22 frescoes exist.
I like this place very much.
