Mother is the best
My mother is the best because… she takes me to school, she also brings me home. She takes me to the best classes. She is very kind and helpful. She doesn’t make me spoilt. She keeps on saying, “Don’t do this, don’t do that” but I know that it’s for my own good. She helps me to do my homework. She cooks very tasty food. She is a doctor and saves our world. She helps ill people.
She helps me in all my achievements, especially chess. She takes me to one of the best chess academies. She takes me to every chess tournament there is. She even took me to Polonnaruwa because I got selected to the all-island competition in Polonnaruwa. My mother encourages me to read books, write essays and tell poems. My mother will hold my hand in every step of my life.
For all these reasons I think that my mother is the best.

How I can help my mother
My mother does all the work for us. She does the laundry, cooks food, washes and irons clothes etc. So, I feel that I should help her too. I clean up any messes as soon as possible. I launder my bedding. I empty the trash can before it starts to overflow. I help my mother to cook the food. If my mother asks for help, I don’t complain – I help out. I help her to wash and iron the clothes too. I also water the garden and sweep and mop the floor.
Whenever we have guest, I help to cook food and serve them. I do extra chores and help without being asked. I dust the rooms and fold my clothes. I set the table for meals and I clean the dishes. I feed my pet too.

Giving my mother a special treat
This year, May 12th was considered Mother’s Day and I wanted to give my mom something really special.
Luckily my mom went to spend some time at my grandma’s house which left me, my siblings and my dad at home. I swept the garden and watered the plants, scrubbed the tiles, swept indoors, organized all the messy thing strewn across the place and last of all arranged my mom’s room. I decorated her room using my own handmade room décor.
Then came the big part, I prepared dinner with my sister helping me knead the dough. I chopped onions, and garlic, cubed the chicken, added seasoning and made a spicy chicken curry. Then I spread the curry on the dough and put it in the oven to bake a chili chicken pizza.
Mom came home just when the aroma of the pizza reached the front door. She was so delighted to see our well-made home and smell the scrumptious pizza.
When I went to bed that night, mom came to kiss me goodnight and she said that she was proud to have a daughter like me. I felt very happy too.
